First time through harbour mouth and out into channel.
Was fine until return. Nearly ran into training bank. Harbour entrance on tide change, wind astern, wallowing, holes in sea, 10 yards across and 5 ft deep, falling in nose first, hitting into other side, mast slaming forward, rig crashing, foot of water coming over front deck as we climbed back out, only to roll into next as it formed. Only 400 yards of this but that was far too much. Sat on hog and hung on. Stopped for coffee at Hamworthy park on return. |
